The Medicare Mental Health Centre Wagga Wagga is open for business after the service officially launched last week.

The service is being delivered by Grand Pacific Health in partnership with Directions, Mission Australia, and Rivmed.

Grand Pacific Health CEO Adam Phillips said that the new centre would provide much needed mental health care for the Riverina.

“We’re very pleased to be partnering with Directions, Mission Australia, and Rivmed to provide the people of Wagga Wagga with high quality mental health support,” Phillips said. “It’s an innovative and beautiful model of care, that allows people to walk in and get the support they need without any referrals or out of pocket costs.”

The Medicare Mental Health Centre Wagga Wagga provides a welcoming entry point for adults and their support people experiencing distress or mental health challenges to access support services.

Services include:

  • Mental health counselling
  • Support for alcohol and other drug dependency concerns
  • Family support services
  • Care navigation
  • Peer support
  • Culturally sensitive care for First Nations people

These services are delivered at no cost and people do not need to have an existing diagnosis, referral, mental health treatment plan, or Medicare card.
