
Healthy Connections for Active Ageing
Healthy Connections for Active Ageing is a community-based program that supports older people to stay active, socially connected and engaged in their local communities.
The program offers a range of inclusive, group-based activities that promote physical, social and emotional wellbeing in safe and welcoming community settings.
Who is Healthy Connections for Active Ageing for?
Healthy Connections for Active Ageing is open to:
- Aboriginal people aged 50 years and over
- People aged 65 years and over
The program is available to older people living in the Eurobodalla, Bega Valley and Batemans Bay regions. Carers and support people may be able to participate in some activities, such as walking groups and aqua aerobics, depending on participant numbers and any safety considerations.
Participation in some activities, such as falls prevention programs, may be limited.

You’ll have opportunities to participate in activities that support your health, wellbeing and connection with others.
Activities are designed to build confidence, encourage regular physical activity, promote healthy ageing and create opportunities to connect with your local community in a welcoming and supportive environment.
How does Healthy Connections for Active Ageing work?
Healthy Connections for Active Ageing offers a range of activities designed with local communities to support healthy ageing, social connection and wellbeing.
Activities are shaped by community interests and developed with older people and Elders to ensure they are culturally safe, welcoming and relevant.
They may include:
- Walking groups
- Aqua aerobics
- Gentle exercise and falls prevention
- Health and wellbeing sessions
- Yarning circles
- Community events and gatherings
- Other activities based on local interests
Registered participants will also help us measure the program’s impact through simple evaluation and feedback activities.
Where is the program delivered?
Activities are delivered in local community settings across the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley, including Batemans Bay, Moruya, Narooma and Pambula.
These settings include:
- community halls
- aquatic centres
- walking tracks
- community hubs
