About us
headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Wollongong work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Wollongong. We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality physical and mental health services across NSW and the ACT.
About the position
This Mental Health Clinician (contractor) works collaboratively with a young person and their family/carers to identify support needs, goals and develop collaborative care plans. They provide high quality psycho-social assessment and evidence-based, focused interventions within the guidelines of the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative.
This position will work closely with other members of the headspace Wollongong team and external service providers to maximise care outcomes for young people referred to headspace Wollongong.
Based at headspace Wollongong, this is a full-time, fixed term opportunity until 30 June 2023. Part-time hours are negotiable.

What you’ll need
- Current full AHPRA registration as a clinical psychologist, registered psychologist, or occupational therapist (accredited with OTA as meeting the Australian Competency Standards for occupational therapists in mental health), or accreditation with the AASW as a mental health social worker
- Experience in assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders, and provision of Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based focused psychological strategies
- Demonstrated understanding of key issues in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems.
- Eligibility for a Medicare provider number and working within the MBS reporting guidelines
