Our headspace Bega team are thrilled to have been part of the team awarded the Mental Health Matters Rainbow Inclusion Award - Sponsored by ACON.

The awards recognise mental health programs, projects or initiatives that demonstrate commitment to the mental health and wellbeing of sex, sexuality, and/or gender diverse (LGBTIQA+) people.

The win recognises the success of the 'Rainbow Wave Festival' held on Saturday April 13 in Pambula.

GPH Youth Mental Health Manager Jenny Valdivia says the organising committee was made up of a number of local agencies, young people and community members, which included headspace and GPH representatives:

“The organisers and contributors of the Rainbow Wave festival are aware of the issues that our local and sexual and gender diverse community face and the importance of focusing on mental health as a result."

“The event brought lots of different people together and also raised funds for the Bega headspace Youth LGBTIQA+ group," added Jenny.

The awards ceremony was held on the 27th of September 2019 at the Shangri-La Hotel Grand Ballroom in Sydney, from 11:30am until 2pm.

The headspace Bega team were thrilled to welcome the awards team earlier in month when they produced a short film about the service which was screened at the awards.
