About the position

Headspace Wollongong is looking for graduating Master of Clinical Psychology Students who are soon eligible for registration to join headspace Wollongong for exciting new opportunity.

The headspace Wollongong Clinical Psychology registrar program is designed to meet the requirements of your registrar program over 2 years. You get the benefits of working within a supportive team environment with extensive clinical support to help you continue to develop as a clinical psychologist.

This position is a 4 day a week bulk billed private contractor position, not a salaried role.

You will receive

  • 100% of your bulk billed Medicare fee (we are a 100% bulk billing not for profit)
  • Weekly supervision covered, with either an internal supervisor or your external supervisor of choice to meet your registrar program requirements.
  • Paid to attend monthly group supervision (at the general registration Medicare rate)
  • Paid to attend a weekly care planning meetings once per week (at the general registration Medicare rate)
  • Professional Development of your choice funded up to $1000 a year.
  • On the job support from senior team members and administration support
  • Work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team.
  • Extensive experience working with a range of different young people and their families.
  • Retention bonus if you go on to do your second year of your registrar program with us.

headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Wollongong work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.

Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Wollongong, we are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality physical and mental health services across NSW and the ACT.

What you’ll need

  • Current full AHPRA registration as a registered psychologist, working towards your clinical endorsement as a registrar. Those soon to be registered are welcome to apply with a start date after registration.
  • A passion for working with young people!
  • Understanding of the Australian health care system and key issues relevant to primary health care particularly in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
