Neurodiversity Assessment Service
The GPH Neurodiversity Assessment Service (NAS) is a low-cost service dedicated to providing accessible and affordable autism and Cognitive assessments for people of any age but with a focus on children and young adults.
Our assessments are tailored to each person. We aim to provide you and your family or carer with an understanding of your unique support needs, which may, in some circumstances, support applications for funding.
Who is eligible?
NAS is available to anyone aged 6 years and over who has speaking language skills.
Fees
There are fees to access this service. GPH has kept these as low as possible. Click here to learn more.
If you have a referral from a paediatrician, psychiatrist, or a GP you may be eligible for some subsidies through Medicare to assist in the cost of the recommended assessment/s.
Our Approach
We begin with a brief intake to understand your concerns and determine whether NAS is the right fit for you or your child. This is followed by a consultation involving the parent or individual, and where appropriate, the child. Based on this, we develop a personalised assessment or therapy plan tailored to your needs. A feedback session is then provided to discuss results, recommendations, and next steps for support.
Assessment Services Available
Getting Started
Our service begins with an initial appointment to complete a needs assessment. During this meeting, we work with you to determine whether NAS is the right fit and identify which assessments best match your individual needs—whether for a child, adolescent, or adult.
Our Assessments
We offer a range of psychological assessments for children and adults to better understand learning, behaviour, and development. These assessments provide clarity, guidance, and tailored support to help individuals thrive at home, school, work, or in the community.
- Autism Assessments
We offer autism assessments to help understand an individual’s unique strengths and challenges in areas like communication, social interaction, sensory processing, and behaviour. A diagnosis can provide clarity and guide tailored support at home, school, or in the community. Assessments include a clinical interview with parents or carers (ADI-R) and a structured session with the individual (ADOS).
- Behavioural Assessments: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Our ADHD assessments focus on attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity—key areas that can affect learning, behaviour, and relationships. Understanding these patterns can help families, educators, and individuals develop practical strategies for everyday life. Assessments are conducted through structured clinical interviews with the individual and their parents or carers using the DIVA-5.
- Cognitive Assessments
Cognitive assessments help uncover how a person learns, thinks, and solves problems. They identify strengths and challenges in areas like memory, reasoning, and processing speed, and can support personalised learning plans or applications for school, work, or government assistance. We use the WISC-V or WAIS-V (for cognitive ability) and the ABAS-3 (for adaptive functioning) intellectual giftedness as well as learning and intellectual disabilities.
