Student Placements: Empowering Future Healthcare Professionals

We are delighted to offer a unique opportunity for aspiring healthcare workers to gain valuable experience within a safe and supportive environment, where students will engage in appropriate workplace activities with ongoing training, supervision and support from GPH throughout their placement.

Student Placement Opportunities:

  • Clinical Placements: Immerse yourself in the clinical setting with location-specific placements or rotation through various GPH services, gaining practical skills as you witness our multidisciplinary approach to consumer care.
  • Peer Work Placements: Work alongside leaders in lived experience work to develop expertise from your personal experience of living with a mental health condition.
  • Support work placements: Work in a non-clinical service to support and encourage community members in mental health, integrated care and suicide prevention areas.
  • Project Placements: Work alongside project officers and managers, contributing to the ongoing advancement of GPH.

Essential Criteria:

  • You reside in or are willing to temporarily relocate to a local community with GPH programs across NSW or the ACT.
  • You are attending a higher education provider with whom GPH has a partnership agreement.
  • The GPH site you wish to undertake a placement at employs staff of your discipline.

Application process: 

We look forward to welcoming you to GPH and embarking on a transformative journey of learning and growth together. To apply for a student placement at GPH, you will have to submit an application via our online portal. Our staff will contact you if a placement opportunity is available at your selected location. As we have more applications than placement opportunities, we interview potential students.

  • You will need to submit your updated resume and a brief cover letter outlining your motivations for placement with GPH.
  • If you have been allocated a GPH placement through their higher education provider must follow the same application process to ensure appropriate onboarding.
  • If you are a higher education provider with the details of a student you would like us to consider for placement at GPH, you can submit an application on their behalf through the link below. You will need to submit a brief resume for the student.
  • Due to our commitment to privacy and data security, student information should not be emailed directly to GPH staff.

If you are a final-year student and have successfully completed a student placement with us, we may ask you to join us as a new graduate! We can fast-track your employment so you can start your career with Grand Pacific Health as soon as possible. Our pathway to professional practice provides graduates with access to clinical or practice supervision, ongoing training and development opportunities, and mentorship from colleagues.

Higher Education Provider Partnerships

GPH has partnered with higher education providers to improve healthcare delivery collaboratively within our local communities. Core to our relationship is providing local students access to quality student placements. Our partnership is cemented through an organisation-wide Student Placement Agreement between Grand Pacific Health and the Higher Education Provider. Our Executive Manager of People and Culture has executed this. For more information on becoming a partner higher education provider, please email HR@gph.org.au.
