Sunday 17 May is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia).

IDAHOBIT was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced globally by gay, lesbian and bisexual people and has been expanded to mobilise support for transgender and intersex people who continue to experience human rights abuses.

The date of May 17 was chosen to commemorate the World Health Organisation's decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.
