September 09, 2020
Grand Pacific Health is encouraging people to check in with each other on R U OK Day this Thursday September 10.
Its been a rough year for many with the drought, bushfires, floods, COVID-19 and floods again, says GPH CEO Ron de Jongh:
“We’ve had people reach out for support who haven’t needed mental health support services at any other point in their lives until now.”
“Others now recognise they’ve had underlying struggles that have really come to the surface in the last 12 months.”
“Now, more than ever, we need to use this day as a reminder to have some conversations with those around us and simply start with R U OK?” Added Ron.
Grand Pacific Health operates 16 hubs, including 5 headspace Centres, with a strong focus on Mental Health.
GPH is supporting R U OK Day, which is a suicide prevention charity empowering everyday people to start conversations around mental health and wellbeing in the hope of breaking down stigma, building meaningful connections and offering support.
This year the message is: 'There's more to say after R U OK?' - recognising that a conversation can change a life.
