Alex Misev GP 2020 small2

Young people aged 12-25 are now able to see a youth-friendly General Practitioner (GP) at headspace Goulburn - completely bulk-billed through Medicare.

Dr Alex Misev is now available for support or services in: General physical health concerns, sexual health and contraception, mental health care plans and more.

headspace Goulburn Service Manager Gail Davies says all young people are able to see Dr Alex:

“Dr Alex is taking appointments for Thursdays from 3pm - 7pm at 13-17 Verner St, Goulburn for all young people aged 12-25 and his hours will increase as demand increases.”

“Video conferencing and telephone appointments are also available during this time.”

“Having a doctor at headspace ensures more young people can receive a holistic approach to their health and wellbeing,” added Gail.

Dr Alex says he is passionate about helping young people:

“Young people have their own sets of challenges that they face. Even if they want to reach out, it's hard to know who to reach out to.”

“Some things are important for a GP to pick up during this time of life, whether it's a mental illness or another medical condition, or just a chat about health and well being in general, because they can have a lifelong effect.”

“At headspace there's the added support of so many other clinicians and youth workers too, so it's a much more welcoming environment and not as daunting as a conventional GP clinic,” added Dr Alex.

Ron de Jongh, CEO of Grand Pacific Health, who are the lead agency for headspace Goulburn, says he is delighted that the service is expanding and meeting the needs of the community:

“Bulk billed and youth friendly health services can be difficult to access in rural and regional communities, which can be distressing for young people and their families.”

“The fact that we can now offer this and provide practical assistance for young people’s physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing, is truly significant,” added Mr de Jongh.

GP appointments can be made by calling 02 4824 4944.

The service is free for young people aged 12-25 if a Medicare card is provided (if a young person does not have one, headspace can help organise one.)
