headspace day wollongong

headspace Wollongong will host a free wellbeing day for young people on Wednesday 9 October 2019 to celebrate headspace Day.

Each year people across Australia come together to celebrate headspace day – a national day of support for the mental health and wellbeing of all young Australians, recognising that one in four young Australians will experience a mental health issue each year.

Grand Pacific Health, who are the lead agency for headspace Wollongong, are inviting media and members of the community to join them in coming together to acknowledge this event and the importance of a healthy headspace.

headspace Wollongong Community Service Manager Lynn Langhorn says she believes that young people are resilient and with the right support and tools can get through tough times:

“This headspace day, we encourage young Australians to learn some simple tips to help them build and maintain a healthy headspace.

“The event is free for young people to attend and will include activities like Beach Yoga, games on the sand, therapeutic drumming and gardening/ composting - delivered with the support of Bunnings Wollongong and Wollongong Youth Centre.”

“We encourage people to get involved by coming along, posting #headspaceday to social media, or by making a donation to headspaceday.org.au,” added Lynn.
