Grand Pacific Health’s Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative program (HASI), are running a 5-week Bushfire Survival Virtual Workshop for their consumers starting this Monday October 12, 2020.

HASI is a recovery-oriented mental health care service with offices in Nowra and Ulladulla.

The team have put together the event in partnership with Captain Sue Borrowdale from the Callala Bay Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade.

It will run online each Monday at 12:30pm for 5 consecutive weeks.

On Monday the 26th of October, Captain Sue Borrowdale, will be also attending the Nowra HASI office (at 29 Kinghorne Street) to deliver a presentation in person about the RFS and bushfire safety plans.

HASI Senior Support Worker Samantha Coad says the workshop has been created to help the people they work with:

“This workshop will assist participants with feeling more informed, prepared and confident during bushfire season, particularly after the events of last summer.”

“Understandably many people have concerns, particularly those who already struggle with mental health challenges.”

“We are hoping that by offering practical tips and connecting with local experts, we can make people feel more comfortable,” added Sam.
