Carers Supporting the LGBTIQA+SB community
Are you supporting someone from the LGBTIQA+SB community at risk of suicide, or experiencing self-harm? You don’t have to face it alone. Our Carer Support Program provides family members, friends, and loved ones with the tools and support they need. Join our in-person group sessions to connect with others and learn strategies for managing your own self-care while supporting your family member or friend.
Here’s what you’ll gain:
• Learn how to support someone who might be thinking about suicide or experiencing periods of suicidal distress or self-harm.
• Explore ways to take care of yourself while supporting others.
• Access information on local services and how to connect with them.
• Discover how to talk and work with your friend or family member to help keep them safe.
How does it work?
The program combines both group and individual support facilitated by our Family Clinician and Peer Workers. Three group sessions (2 hours each) are delivered over 5 weeks.
Between group sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to speak individually with a peer worker and family clinician over the phone or by video. This will give you the opportunity to ask any further questions.
You will also be able to reach out for two support calls, within two months following the conclusion of the groups.
