Community based approach

As a local implementation of the National Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) program, We Breathe provides culturally appropriate Aboriginal quit smoking support.

We empower individuals to take action against Indigenous smoking through a community-based approach. The program educates individuals about the harm of tobacco and the impacts of second and third-hand smoke.

We deliver locally appropriate programs and activities that aim to:

  • Improve access to culturally appropriate quit services and hotlines, including the Koori Quitline and Aboriginal Quit Line support.
  • Engage community members in tobacco cessation activities.
  • Raise awareness in communities about the health impacts of second hand and third hand smoke.
  • Encourage and support smokers to quit.
  • Support communities with smoke-free home tips, workplaces, and public spaces.
