Eating Disorder Service

The GPH Eating Disorder Service (EDS) provides a stepped model of care for people aged 12 and above, focused on indicated prevention, early intervention and a continuum of flexible care options that support varying levels of severity and complexity of eating disorders.

Our experienced dietitians and psychologists provide evidence-based services specific to the treatment of eating disorders.

Eligibility criteria

12 years or older

Have an eating disorder or an unhealthy relationship with food

Be willing to have ongoing engagement with a GP as part of care

BMI greater than or equal to 16kg/㎡

GPH Eating Disorder Service provides dietitian and psychological supports for people with diagnosed eating disorders*, as well as those with disordered eating behaviours.

* Eating disorders we treat

  • Anorexia Nervosa – Mild / Moderate only
  • Bulimia Nervosa – Mild / Moderate Only
  • Binge Eating Disorder – Mild / Moderate / Severe
  • OSFED – in accordance with the most similar presentation

Referral process

1. Referral

You can self refer or have a medical practitioner complete a referral on your behalf

2. Intake assessment

You will be contacted to book an intake assessment, which allows us to determine whether we are suited to your needs.

3. Suitability decision

We will review your intake assessment and determine whether we are suited to your needs. We may request additional information from you to confirm suitability.

4. Allocation

If we are suited to your needs, you will either be placed on our waitlist or allocated to a clinician.

5. Booking

Once there is availability, you will be booked in to see your clinician. 

6. Support

You will commence treatment.
