The Butt out Boondah Program is funded by a regional grant as a part of the National Tackling Indigenous Smoking program.

Nationally, the goal of Butt out Boondah is to improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through a community-based approach to reduce the harm from tobacco. 

The Butt out Boondah (TIS) Team, work within the Queanbeyan and Goulburn regions, with outreach into Yass and Cooma communities to deliver locally appropriate programs and activities that aim to:

  • Engage community members in tobacco cessation activities.
  • Encourage and support smokers to quit
  • Improve access to culturally appropriate quit services
  • Encourage and support non-smokers to avoid uptake.
  • Raise awareness in communities about the health impacts of second hand and third hand smoke.
  • Supporting communities to be smoke-free homes, workplaces and public spaces.
