SCFH RAP launch celebration

Shell Cove Family Health (SCFH) who are operated by Grand Pacific Health (GPH), celebrated the launch of the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) on June 5.

A ‘RAP Committee’ comprised of a diverse group of staff from all across the organisation developed the plan, which has been officially endorsed by Reconciliation Australia.

Chair of the RAP Committee, Christine van den Berg, said it’s an important step:

“The RAP describes how we will improve health outcomes and Close the Gap in health, education and employment for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.”

“It outlines three key focus areas incorporating; relationships, respect and opportunities in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People – all within the context of the various health services GPH provides,” added Christine.

Representatives of the GPH Board, local Elders, RAP Committee members and available staff, will be celebrated the launch on Wednesday June 5 from 12-1pm at SCFH, 2 Shallows Drive Shell Cove.

An artwork commissioned by GPH as a visual representation of the RAP was unveiled at the launch and a smoking ceremony with Uncle Gerald Brown took place.
