The swell of enthusiasm is rising for the ‘Rainbow Wave festival’ that is set to hit the South Coast on Saturday April 13.

The festival is planned to coincide with Youth Week and will include music, markets, competitions, games, information stalls and a parade to be held at the Oaklands Events Centre in Pambula.

The festival will kick off with celebrations for all ages from 3pm, with a Mardi Gras parade at 7pm. (Transport from surrounding towns will be available).

The organisers and contributors of the Rainbow Wave festival are aware of the issues that our local and wider LGBTI community face and the importance of focusing on mental health.

Bega headspace Peer Support Worker Carly McDonald says the day is all about community:

“It’s an event to bring lots of different people together, that includes the LGBTI community - young and old, as well as their allies, friends and family.”

In addition to being a fun day out, the festival will raise funds for the Bega headspace Youth LGBTI Group.
