Grand Pacific Health who are the lead agency for headspace Nowra, are partnering with Totem Skateboarding to host an event for National headspace Day on Wednesday October 9 at Nowra Skate Park.

headspace Day is celebrated on October 9 each year during National Mental Health Week to promote mental health literacy among young people aged 12-25 across Australia.

headspace Nowra Community Engagement Officer Lincoln Smith said each year a quarter of all young people in our community will experience difficulties with their mental health:

“headspace day is an opportunity to encourage young people to learn some simple self-care tips that can help them maintain a healthy headspace.”

“We will have physical and digital kits available at our event with ‘7 tips for a healthy headspace’ and the team from Totem Skateboarding will be offering free skate workshops encouraging young people to get active outside and connect with friends and the broader community,” added Lincoln.

The event will run from 10am-2pm - featuring free skate workshops with Totem coaches for beginners and intermediate skaters, a skate jam with giveaways from sponsors and a demo from the VANS team.

There’ll be a free BBQ run by HMAS Albatross and the Fat Cat Burger truck will be selling food.

The event is sponsored by VANS, Volcom, Passport, Sunday Hardware, DJ Warehouse Hire.
