Grand Pacific Health (GPH) has welcomed the Federal Government’s announcement that $1.53 million has been allocated to establish a headspace centre at Batemans Bay.

GPH, who are the lead agency for headspace Wollongong, Nowra, Goulburn and Bega have long advocated for youth mental health services in the Eurobodalla.

“There is a long distance between Nowra and Bega,” said GPH CEO, Ron de Jongh.

“We see a lot of unmet need in the area and are delighted that young people in the Eurobodalla will soon have access to services that address their physical and mental health needs,” added Mr de Jongh.

headspace is a free health service for young people aged 12-25 years.

headspace centres offer young people access to a variety of experienced and friendly staff like; Psychologists, Counsellors, GP’s, Dietitians and Youth Workers.

The service offers early intervention across four key areas; mental health, related physical health, social and vocational support, as well as alcohol and drug use.

GPH is a not-for-profit primary health service provider, delivering affordable services that are tailored to regional communities.

GPH operates from 12 hubs in South Eastern NSW and specialises in mental health, youth health, Aboriginal health care and chronic disease management.
