Grand Pacific Health Centre Nowra (GPHCN) have got some new additions for the trophy cabinet following the GP Synergy awards in Wollongong overnight.

Dr Richard Griffiths was awarded the South Eastern NSW Supervisor of the Year Award and Practice Manager Ms Charise Morris was a joint winner for the South Eastern NSW Practice Manager of the Year Award.

Dr Richard has been a GP supervisor since 2009. In the words of one of the registrars who nominated him for this award, “Richard has worked tirelessly to deliver outstanding teaching, in-practice supervision and professional guidance throughout my time working with him.” From helping international medical graduates with feelings of isolation and loneliness, to dropping in on weekend clinics to make sure registrars have a manageable patient load, Richard’s enthusiasm, dedication and love of teaching and general practice are obvious.

Charise has been Practice Manager at GPHCN for the last four years. As a Practice Manager Charise is enthusiastic and committed to ensuring GP registrars are supported in achieving their learning objectives and having an enjoyable time as well. A common theme running through the nominations was Charise’s dedication to creating a team environment at the practice, in the words of one registrar, “Charise creates a team environment which is far greater than the sum of its parts”.

The annual GP Synergy Awards recognise excellence and ongoing commitment to quality general practice education and training.

GPHCN have fared well at these prestigious awards since its opening with Dr Kelly Mitchell named NSW GP Synergy Registrar of the Year in 2016 while Dr Zoe Boyatzis was awarded RACGP Registrar of the Year in the same year.

Grand Pacific Health CEO Ron de Jongh says he couldn’t be more proud of the team:

“I am absolutely delighted with the announcement and while we know we have a very special team, it’s nice to receive that recognition from peers and industry professionals.”
