It is with great pleasure that we announce that Bunja Smith has been successful in his application for the important position of Senior Aboriginal Liaison Manager for Grand Pacific Health.

Bunja identifies as a Walbunga Elder, a member of the greater Yuin Nation of the peoples of the South Coast of NSW. Bunja is the current Chairperson of the Aboriginal Legal Service, the past Chairperson of Katungal and past director of Southern NSW Medicare Local and Grand Pacific Health (a role from which he resigned upon accepting this position). Other than his impressive credentials in corporate governance and that as an advocate for Aboriginal advancement; Bunja also brings a wealth of experience in project management, WHS, compliance and risk management.

Our Aboriginal health team and services are an integral part of GPH’s service offerings and we hold a most credible position in this sector. Bunja’s role will be to strengthen our external Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander relationships, provide mentoring to internal staff, provide whole of organisation input in the tendering for and design and delivery of Aboriginal Health services and indeed provide support to our organisation in our wider diversity agenda.

We are thrilled that Bunja will be joining us as of Monday!
